Real Pizza for Real College Students

I can't really remember how I found out about this place.  It was probably one of my off-campus friends who brought me here because he could no longer waste money on expensive campus food.  I remember the smell of baking pizza drifting through a cracked window right next to the oven.  I walk in to find the epitome of the definition of a hole in the wall.  It all seemed a little sketchy to me.  But do not be intimidated by the claustrophobic interior because, somehow, Vinny's has become the most reliable food joint for students who don't have Lion dollars to spend.
Vinny's offers a limited menu of pizza, pastas, calzones, and sandwiches at cheap prices and good portions.  Once you've been there once, you know what to expect and expect nothing more.  They are fast and they do deliver to the dorms on campus.  Delivery may just be about the best option because, even though it is so close to school, it is not really a place that many sit down and eat.  That's because there really isn't a "there" to actually eat in unless you want to stare at the wall on an uncomfortable stool.  Personally, I like to go to one of the two tiny bar tables out front and fight my way through the wind blowing everything on my table as I have my pizza.  My friends will cram themselves around the sidewalk as they all fight for the limited space on the table, as I watch the staff making the pizzas inside through the window because the ghetto parking lot offers nothing of a view.  This is part of the experience because I just don't see the point in bringing home cold pizza.
And the pizza here is great.  I am not saying this is the best pizza you'll ever have but the marinara is homemade and the dough is nice and chewy with a thin crust.  Me and my friends usually like to go by the slices instead of getting whole pizzas, and I would recommend this.  You can get a slice of pizza, a salad (nothing more than lettuce, shredded carrots, a cherry tomato or two, and dressing) if you want to feel like you're are at least trying to do something remotely healthy, and a drink all for a few bucks.  The pastas are great for a cheap dinner, and I hear the hot sandwhiches are amazing.  I would stay away from the calzones because they are not that great.
Overall, this is a truly wonderfall place to get off campus for an hour between classes.  The staff here is also great and extremely friendly.  For not being a huge pizza fan, this is a place where I feel like I am actually getting a unique taste which makes me keep coming back.

This is great information. I am always looking for great food for reasonable prices. I also find that it is these hole-in-the-wall places that end up being the best!
