A Hidden Gem in U-Hall

By far the best shop not only in University Hall but also on the entire LMU campus is the little bookstore on the first floor. First of all this bookstore has EVERYTHING! Whenever I need a little snack or a quick bite to eat, this place never lets me down. From their endless supply of Alternative Baking Company cookies to Chex Mix you cannot go hungry if you walk in this shop. One entire wall is dedicated to food, the front counter is stacked with more options and there is also a wall of refrigerated drinks. When I go in this place for something to munch on I often find myself leaving way later than I had planned on because I had spent so much time trying to decide what I actually wanted... Twix? Cookies? Dried Mango? They have it!

It has also been my savior many times when I remember at the last minute before my test or final that I need a blue/green book. They have all of the school supplies you could possibly need from calculators to notebooks. When I moved into my new apartment I needed an extension cord and they even had that... and different varieties of extension cords too! The bookstore also has LMU gear from sweatshirts to keychains and of course an amazing selection of books including cook books (I have bought a few) and lengthy romance novels.

Besides the fact that the bookstore has all of the amenities you could ever possibly need, they also buy back your books from you at the end of the semester. Though the regular bookstore does this also, the little bookstore never has a line and is conveniently located where, as an English major, all of my classes are. This is nice so that I don't have to trek all the way across campus by the Lion's Den just to get less than a quarter back of the money I originally spent on the books.

Last but definitely not least, this bookstore has the friendliest and most amusing women as staff. One lady is always blasting oldies and singing along (I promise we are kindred spirit) and another lady that never fails to be super friendly and helpful. I feel like these women are my moms, or aunts or ok... grandmas. Not only does purchasing something from this bookstore always satisfy me but seeing these women just completes and brightens my day.

So if you ever need a snack, blue book, sweatshirt or just a friendly face to lighten up your day, stop into the little bookstore in University Hall, you won't leave unhappy.
