That's right, it is better than C&O's. Little Kitchen has none of those excruciating lines, crowds, or wait times. None of that cheesy music blasting through the speakers that make guests yell at the top of their lungs across the dinner table. None of that rushed attitude the servers give off as they try to get you out of there as fast as they can to rotate the tables. When matched up with C&O's, the prices are exactly the same per plate. The proportions may not be as big as they are at C&O's, but who the hell can eat all that food anyway? It's about quality not quantity. The complimentary focaccia bread may not be as good as the infamous garlic rolls, but at least they're not 300 calories a bite. And they have actual specialized pizzas here from dough made at the restaurant.
Italy's Little Kitchen is properly named because it is just that: little. The intimate ambiance is neither distracting nor incredibly distracting and forgettable. The layout is cool and different. It is just kind of awesome that the weird triangular patio, if it can be called that, has nothing but a view of KFC and a driveway. The atmosphere created in this restaurant allows you to sit back, relax and enjoy one another's company as you share a meal together. That is why this place is a remarkably good fallback place for couples on a date. While not incredibly original, the unobtrusive setting and staff allow you to give all your attention over to your date. This place is also great for double dating. They easily put three tables together to accomodate six of us, and we had a great time drinking wine and taking pictures.
The staff know that this is a restaurant that people want to come because they do not want to be rushed. It is a place of intimate, quiet conversations. In terms of the actual servers: nothing stellar. But also nothing to complain about. They do their job and do not intrude. They are very professional without being professionals.
But truly, the reason for going here is the food itself. While it is nothing revolutionary, the taste can be considered gourmet for the price. The pastas are hit or miss based on what other people tell me about what they ordered. I've only got one pasta there before. I wish I could remember what it was, but it was nothing spectacular which is probably why I can't remember. The raviolis are where it's at. The spinach ravioli is simple, basic, good. The butternut squash ravioli is almost sweet and offers something not found anywhere else I've been. My favorite is the mushroom ravioli. It has portabello and champigno mushrooms, which I like to get with the pesto cream sauce. This place really is a hidden Weschester gem that we just happen to see everyday.
