Books I read when I feel blue.
1
Anything Harry Potter
I can pick up any HP book, open it to any page and start to read without feeling lost. I love that feeling. My favorite character has always been Neville Longbottom, I can just relate so much to that kid. I was horribly depressed when I got my hands on the last book and realized I would never get to read an HP book for the first time again. Luckily they are still wonderful the tenth time around.
2
Franny and Zooey
I just love this book. I wish Franny's part was longer though.
3
Harriet the Spy
I love to read this when I feel like the whole world's againts me. There's a part in the book where the other children find out that Harriet has been writing not so nice things about them in her notebook and they all turn on her.
4
Stephen Chbosky Perks of Being a Wallflower
I love Charlie's letters. Whenever I'm feeling particularly angst-y I read this one. There's a quote in this book that reads something like, "We accept the love we think we deserve." Love it.
7
Matilda
This little girl is amazing and slightly passive agressive. Matilda lifts my spirits.
8
The Adventures of Pippi Longstocking
Pippi Longstocking has got moxie, something we all could use a bit more of when we're feeling down.
9
Stardust (novel)
I often wish I could find another world. Neil Gaiman is so creative and his books are so easy to get lost in, perfect for forgetting your troubles.

I agree with Devora - love the concept! Also, Franny and Zooey is a personal favorite. I'd probably add anything by David Sedaris to my own list, just because he can instantly turn a sour mood upside down.

Aw, love the concept of this list! Personally, I have a few "Chicken Soup for the ... Soul" type books in mine. I would love to hear a bit about why you included these books on the list. You can actually edit and add some commentary! Thanks for sharing :)

Even though I'm a happy person I spend the majority of my weekdays daydreaming. I spend the weekends plotting and scheming. I love my husband, my cats, sunshine, moonlight, fruit roll-upsand words. … more
