The Intouchables is easily one of the best films I have seen this year.  It is a French film with English sub titles.   Phillippe, a weathly Parisian man becomes a quadriplegic from a hand gliding accident.  He is played by François Cluzet.  He hires a young black man named Driss to care for him.  Driss is played by Omar Sy.  Both actors give Oscar worthy performances with their roles.  Driss is a young man who wants nothing more to get his welfare benefits at the beginning of the film. He is reluctant to become the life in care taker for Phillippe doing things like giving him a shower and putting on his clothes.   Driss becomes more comfortable in his care taker role and then a special relationship develops between the two men Phillppe is a man who wants no pity because of his condition.   This is the way every person with a physical disability wants to be treated.   Driss helps Phillippe rediscover a passion for life.  They race around the roads of Paris in a Maserati sports car.  They go hand gliding over the skies of Paris.  Driss also helps Phillippe find love with a female pen pal.    I love the music in this film.  This film contains  "The Ghetto" by George Benson.  This is a groovy tune with excellent guitar playing.    The film also contains two R and B classics from Earth, Wind and Fire "September" and "Boogie Wonderland". I grew up listening to these songs and still enjoy them.  The score     This film also features Vivaldi's Spring Allegro".   The score by composer Ludovico Einaudi is beautifuly done.  The piano instrumentals entitled "Fly" and "Una Mattina" are simply goregous  pieces of  music.   I hope people see this film.  It is an uplifting film about the friendship between two men with different backgrounds.

Written and directed by  Oliver Nakache and Eric Toledano   Starring Francois Cluzet and Omar Sy      This beautiful movie had the audience standing to cheer at the end of the story.      A quadriplegic millionaire, Philippe,  and his secretary are interviewing applicants for the position of companion and care giver. Most of the applicants are run of the mill and treat the idea of helping the man as a form of penance …

Prior to watching the film, check out photos of Dustin Hoffman. The resemblance between the two men is amazing and adds to the enjoyment of the film.
