Nobody wants SPAM for Lunch (dot com)

What is it about the New Year that brings out the trolls.  I have been spammed twice today by people who don't know me but are already in love with me.  Now, I know what a lovable and incredibly handsome guy I am.  With that 70s outfit, I'm probably downright irresistable.  But the unsolicited accolades of an internet troll do not stroke my ego.  They are an aggravating part of internet communications.  Message boards, emails and social networking sites are the playground for these internet pests.  What we need is a good SPAM killer.  A Terminix for spammers.

spam

I also noticed while I was on the home page that new accounts are popping up that have not yet hit my in-box.  I am sure that these accounts (by the look of them) are heading that direction.  If there is a Spam Killer at Lunch.com...you are gonna be busy today.  We are under assault.  It is like a full fledged cockroach infestation in here today!  Somebody help!

raid

For those of you who simply love me because I'm such a good guy...don't be scared off.  If you are legit, I love ya back!  But there is always something suspicious when you see an account created today that "happened upon your profile" and then fell madly in love.  So, to my friends and secret admirers...love away.  For the trolls and spammers...get lost.  In the words of the old commercial, we need a giant can of RRR-A-A-A-I-I-I-DDDD!

Sorry to break it to you, John, but they sent me the same message, too... I knew it was too good to be true! ;P  By the way, if you, or anyone else for that matter, get any spam, it'd be great if you could hit that blue "Feedback" button to the left and copy and paste the screen name and message into the box.  That way, the team can take care of it STAT.

Thanks for sharing your frustrations and gripe for spammers in such a comical way, John!  :)

About this topic

Wiki

Spam is the abuse of electronic messaging systems (including most broadcast media, digital delivery systems) to send unsolicited bulk messages indiscriminately. While the most widely recognized form of spam is e-mail spam, the term is applied to similar abuses in other media: instant messaging spam, Usenet newsgroup spam, Web search engine spam, spam in blogs, wiki spam, online classified ads spam, mobile phone messaging spam, Internet forum spam, junk fax transmissions, social networking spam, and file sharing network spam.

Spamming remains economically viable because advertisers have no operating costs beyond the management of their mailing lists, and it is difficult to hold senders accountable for their mass mailings. Because the barrier to entry is so low, spammers are numerous, and the volume of unsolicited mail has become very high. The costs, such as lost productivity and fraud, are borne by the public and by Internet service providers, which have been forced to add extra capacity to cope with the deluge. Spamming is widely reviled, and has been the subject of legislation in many jurisdictions.

People who create electronic spam are called spammers.
