I found myself done with the gym at around 9:30 on a Friday night with no plans. My friend and I were pretty tired, and need something to eat. Places were closing, and we needed food now. Right across the street from the 24 Hour is Romano's -- so we thought to give this a try.
PARKING: We left our cars near the gym and walked over, which I think means we could of been towed. But it looks like you have to valet it if you eat there, which I think is pretty weak. There may be a garage right in back of it, but if not - try heading to one of the stores across the street first, and then walk over.
HAPPY HOUR: Apparently, we came right in the middle of happy hour. There are two times that this happens, 5-7PM (?) and 9-close. There was NOBODY there. I thought the place had closed already. I sat at the bar and had a few beers. Service was decent, nothing to complain about. Food was...okay. Nothing to really complain about. It's like Olive Garden. Decent food, slightly overpriced. Their happy hour menu looks slightly promising - beer and wine is cheap, and they have several tapas style plates you could order that looked to be mostly under $10. I ended up making my own pasta where you choose your sauce, pasta type and meat toppings. I had whole wheat pasta with a cream sauce mixed with spinach, tomatoes and mushrooms with shrimp added too - all for about $14. Eh, it wasn't bad.
Again - nothing to complain about Romano's. It got the job done when there was something we needed quick and close. If you're in the Manhattan Beach/El Segundo area on Rosecrans late on a Friday night -- head on over. You'll miss the crowd, there is a happy hour, and you'll eat food.
Other than that, there was nothing really special about this place. I would have given them a +3 if they had those tasty chocolate Andes mints like Olive Garden that you get after you pay your bill. Oh well.
