Nuts are some of the best things you can eat - they're loaded with antioxidants, good fats, and protein. I never really liked nuts growing up but have learned to love them as I got older. Here are my favorites and why!
Almonds have gotten really popular as a snack in recent years(probably because of the crafty work of the California Almond Board). And why not? They're filled with protein and just a handful will tide you over as an afternoon snack until dinnertime. They're also great sliced in cereals.
I love brazil nuts! Their large size create an awesome soft texture. I usually like salted nuts the best, but brazil nuts are delicious just the way they are.
Ugh, I love when cashews are super salty! Also love flavor-roasted cashews, such as Thai curry cashews. See if you can pick some up at your local grocery store - maybe Trader Joe's?
I haven't chestnuts in forever, but I do love them. They're really, really oily if you get them roasted the right way - and that's the best way! ;) When you eat them you can tell how good they are for you.
I think it's safe to say that these are the most common and generic of all nuts, but that doesn't mean they aren't great. I like them the best in other foods, like trail mix, Clif bars, and OF COURSE, peanut butter! I can't believe I never liked peanut butter as a kid...weird, huh?
What did you think of this list?

Mmmmm, hazelnut-flavored anything is delicious, but now you've got my mind on Nutella and Ferrero Rochers!
i heard that nuts are a great Blue Zone food... but i'm not sure which ones are the best since i haven't read the book. i need to figure that out. a Cliff Clavin side note: the hazel nut is also known as the Filbert.

I just checked out the Blue Zone site... the book sounds like something I can get behind. Haha, coming from Boston, I can certainly appreciate the Cliff Clavin side note!!! :) Thanks for the comment.
