I started getting this magazine by accident, and I'm so glad I did. The photography is what gets me with HB. The spreads (yes, there are several in every issue) are always heavily laden with a theme or particular trend which I find interesting and helpful. My favorite feature of the magazine is "Buy, Keep, Store". I tend to purchase some pretty crazy things from season to season and this feature helps me know what should be packed away or kept in my closet.
I suppose I'm a little biased because I write for the site, but I really do get some great ideas from the insightful Style Gurus and the photos they take of people on their college campuses. www.CollegeFashionista.com has so many voices and opinions contributing to it and is something I hope will continue to bring the latest and greatest to students across the world.
Each individual post can be perused in less than 10 seconds but the message comes across loud and clear; Katherine Power and Hillary Kerr really know their stuff and are always coming up with fun and innovative new ideas.
I've been reading this magazine since I was about 15. I like the mix of RTW Fashion for the everyday gal and the editorial pieces as well. They also always do really interesting spreads on the cover model/celebrity.
I can't deny my insane jealousy of Jane Aldridge. She has quite possibly the most enviable closet on the planet and though I keep telling myself that some of it is her mom's stuff...I'm still jealous! The photography shows that a personal fashion blog is most successful when you not only have great taste but can present the clothing/accessories/ shoes/etc in a beautiful way.
I feel like I have to like Vogue as someone interested in fashion, but it really has never been a favorite of mine. I kind of feel like I don't get as much bang for my buck as with some other publications. There are a lot of ads, and when you read as many mags as I do, they begin to become a bit redundant. Also, I can NEVER find the table of contents!
Since I'm only 22 I don't feel much shame in grabbing a copy of Teen Vogue every now and then. That's where I discovered Sea of Shoes actually. They always have fun spreads with bright colors and it's a publication I can page through in a few minutes if I have a little downtime.
