Caution: Before reading this list, be aware that there might be some spoilers involved. Proceed at your own risk. I created this list from movies and television series that had disappointing endings or perhaps non-endings.
Story of a college professor who starts having recollations of a previous life where he was murdered. He spends the whole film trying to track down the woman who killed him in his previous life. When he finally confronts her at the end, it was like the director pulled the rug out from under the feet of the audience. Super disappointing ending!
I watched this show diligently in the 1960's expecting the Robinsons to be rescued despite the constant annoying meddling of Dr. Smith. Unfortunately, the series ended abruptly without the Robinson's making it back to Earth.
Another television show where the bungling of one character and a slew of "greedy" would be rescuers kept the castaways from being rescued. Several years after the show went off the air, CBS put together a couple of lame films where the castaways finally get rescued. They were so lame that Tina Louise didn't even revise her role.
This show was the most popular daytime televisions series and even had a few spin-off movies. Through some sort of dispute the series was terminated in 1972. We last saw Barnabas and Julia head back to Collinwood without knowing whether Barnabas was still a vampire and if he and Julia would ever get together or even if things were totally right with the Collinwood of the present.

The greatest television comedy series ever had the lamest ending ever. The gang ends up being sent to prison for showing "indifference" after a trial where they brought back several of the characters from the series.
The best of the Irwin Allen productions. Doug and Tony were never able to make it back to their own time. When the producers ran out of ideas, they could have easily left us with a decent ending.

Throughout this film the audience expected a big battle between the apes and the super evolved humans. This was not to be as the human leader explained that the apes' skulls were too thick for their mind powers to work. Instead, the human leader is gunned down with Brent and Taylor. The last act is to set off the doomsday bomb, leaving the Earth as a dead world. History would be rewritten in the later sequels but I was very disappointed when I saw this ending in the theater.
