Favorite Latina Actresses

For this list I selected primarily movie actresses because if I included tv I would have to go to many of the novela actresses on the Spanish soaps that regularly air on Univision.  Perhaps when I get inspired I will create a separate list for them.

Frida is one of my favorite movies and Salma was the reason. She also was excellent in Fools Rush In. One of the world's most beautiful actresses too!

Carmen Maura
A mega talent who has appeared in several Pedro Almodóvar films. Her performances have made those movies some of the best foreign films in the last ten years.

Penelope Cruz
Loved her in Vanilla Sky where she played the same role as she had in the Spanish version of the movie. She stole the movie in Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Very exotic looking and talented.

There's something about Cameron. And not just when she is asking for hair gel. She was also excellent in Vanilla Sky, Gangs of New York and She's the One. And who can forget Princess Fiona?

Sin City, Grindhouse, Clerks II and Seven Pounds help her get my vote! Very exotic looking too!

Born Raquel Tejeda from Nicaragua. Came a long way from One Million Years BC and Fantastic Voyage to develop into a great actress! And who can forget how well she played herself in Seinfeld? One of the most beautiful women I have ever seen.

Lupe Ontiveros
Yolanda Saldiva and a myriad of other supporting roles help her make my list. Probably the best Latina character actress around!

Eva Mendez
Forget Hitch and a few other bad roles. Eva is a talented actress given the right role. Also, one of the most beautiful actresses around.

Mercedes Ruehl
Excellent in The Fisher King and Married to the Mob. She was also Tom Hanks mother in Big!

I did not realize that some of these actresses are Latina! Great list, Michael! :)

It was only later in life that I learned that Raquel Welch was Latina.
