Favorite Science Fiction Films

In order for a film to be on my list it has to be one that I can re-watch. There are some films I liked (eg. I Am Legend) that I have no desire to ever see again so they did not make my list.
1
DVD set front
Just about every time I flip the channels and one of these films is on, I must watch! The one feel good scifi film. Now don't be tempted to get those future sports scores!
2
Planet of the Apes
Saw this movie when it came out in the theater. Just remember talking about the shock ending for about a week. I guess it seems like nothing today but back then it was big news!
3
Aliens
Forget the first film. The showdown that Ellen Ripley has with the Alien had me cheering.
4
The Terminator
Having seen Arnold in Conan, I didn't have any expectations for this film going in. Boy were my eyes opened. This film grabbed me from the start! When he pulls out his mechanical eye and when he searches his computer brain for a snappy retort were both priceless scenes!

Star Trek Poster
Hadt seen a Star Trek film that generated any interest for me since Star Trek IV. This film opened a new level of Star Trek excitement for sequels to come. I hope Abrams has another great film up his sleeve!

6
DVD front
The only one of the Trilogy that was any good. The others were unnecessary in my opinion. The battle in the subway was amazing.

Movie poster
This movie was as exciting as watching an actual Super Bowl! You cheered for Jonathan (James Caan) throughout. John Houseman was perfect as the head of the Global Corporations.
8
Logan's Run
Amazing tale when it came out. Really exciting when Logan decides to change from being a "Sandman" to a "runner." Farrah Fawcett was gorgeous in this film as a futuristic plastic surgeon. Other than Walkabout, the only other film I have seen with Jenny Aguter who I had a crush on.
9
Star Wars
What's a Scifi list without these three films that brought Science Fiction to the mainstream?
10
Journey to the Far Side of the Sun
Roy Thinnes in this virtually unknown film as a man who travels to a parallel Earth that sits in the same orbit as our Earth but on the other side of the sun. Has a truely intriguing ending!

I saw #10 when I was around ten! I completely forgot about this. Thanks for the memory.

Great list. Journey to the Far Side of the Sun sounds similar to Irwin Allen's Land of the Giants which also had a parallel earth on the other side of the sun. Loved Logan's Run. When I turned 30 and noted no glowing red jewel, I was relieved. Arnold in Conan, wasn't that the film where they dubbed in a different voice than his own? Rollerball, I've always meant to watch that. Again, Great List!

I think the Journey film was British. If you loved Logan's Run you might want to try the book. Very different story (sanctuary was actually on the Moon). Arnold didn't have a lot of dialogue in that Conan film so I am not sure if his voice was dubbed or not.
