This movie was a higher budget version of the bad Kung Fu movies that used to air on television Saturday afternoons in the 1980's. The story was plain awful. The cinematography was excellent and this is what I liked about the film. The battle in the trees was like watching a visual work of art.

I was never much a fan of the X-Men comics and I don't see anything special about the first three films in this Marvel series. Too many heroes and villians hurt these movies. I even preferred Daredevil to these films.
This is another movie that received such acclaim and Peter Finch won a posthumous best actor award. I find nothing interesting about his yelling out the window with his "I'm not going to take it" rant. Faye Dunaway looked stunning but her acting was not great. The story left me empty.
Loved the Broadway play! The movie did very little for me. I just found it too campy to be funny. Worked much better as a live musical. The live actor was a lot more funny with his moving hump than Marty Feldman. I did not like audiences laughing at him because of his eyes. It pokes fun at people who look different and sets a bad example. Definately not as good as Mel Brooks' Blazing Saddles.
This movie is loaded with stars before they were known (Mickey Rourke, Ellen Barkin, Daniel Stern). I had difficulty understanding just about every word that Mickey Rourke said. As a person from New York that hung out in Diners during my late teens and early adulthood, I did not relate to this film. I found my real life conversations and events way more interesting than anything this movie presents.
Many people have this on their top 10 list. After watching DeNiro and Pesci in Goodfellas (my all-time favorite flick), the characters just don't have the same chemistry. About half this movie put me to sleep. The black and white didn't help this movie either. Jake LaMota was not a nice man and I have difficulty cheering for him against Sugar Ray Robinson, a truely classy individual. Cathy Moriarity was annoying even though LaMota destroys a fighter's face because she thought the fighter was good-looking.
I first got on this blog to discuss my first passion which is books. Since I have gotten on I find that books are only a piece of this blog and I can discuss just about anything that comes to mind. It … more
