Modern Family: "The Incident"

  • Feb 19, 2010
Every family has "the incident" in their past, and for our Modern Family the incident was Dede's,  Jay's ex-wife, played by Shelley Long, behavior in Jay's and Gloria's wedding. Feeling bad for her behavior at the wedding, Dede comes for a visit, which triggers a series of dark events, such as a bird crashing into Jay and Gloria's window. Dede asks Mitchell for help in setting up the apoligy, and Mitchell ,who in this episode is revealed as the mama's boy, starts to gather the family together. At dinner where the family is expecting to hear the apology from Dede thing so south. However luckily for the family, Dylan, the singer of "In The Moonlight" love song for Haley, saves the night and dinner.

In this episode we got to learn more on the background of the different family members, and their relationship to each other. It was a funny episode, especially because of the help of a great guest star. Shelley Long started a tradition of amazing comedians who come to visit our modern family. Manny, played by actor, Rico Rodriguez, continued to impress us and make us laugh in the side story, and a new iTunes star was born, Dylan, with "In The Moonlight".

Some great quotes from this episode:

Cameron: Who was that?
Mitchell: My mom
Cameron: Yeah right, cause the last time she was here the magnets are the refrigerator arranged themselves into a penta... hi grandma!

Jay: What's up!
Mitchell: Uh, well you know, uh, moms in town.
Jay: Your mom?
Mitchell: No, no your mom. She's back from the grave. Yes, yes my mom, dad.
Jay: My mom would be less scary

Gloria: I'm taking a shower, would you like to join me?
Jay: Honey, you know there's a gun in the footlocker in the garage, if I ever say no, I want you to use it on me
