There is a huge demand right now for travelers looking for luxury boutique hotels, but with environmentally friendly standards. As such hotels are adopting green policies in both cities and suburbs. Here's a list of the latest LEED certified and eco-friendly boutique hotels. Next time you travel, go green!

terra jackson hole
The first green hotel by Terra Resorts! And what better location for a Silver LEED certified hotel than Jackson Hole, Wyoming! From the gorgeous pool and patio with a view of the Tetons to eco-amenities featuring reusable aluminum bath product bottles and organic cotton linens and mattresses, Hotel Terra has thought of it all. In addition the hotel's water saving system reduces the resorts water usage by 34% each year!

Hotel Triton
Hotel Triton is a hip, trend setter in eco-friendly boutique hotel practices. Located in San Francisco, this hotel features eco-rooms that showcase sustainable materials. Cool features include in room guest recycling bins, environmentally safe cleaning products, 100% recycled paper products, and 25% off valet parking if you drive a hybrid car.

Hotel Felix Chicago
First LEED certified downtown Chicago hotel. Not only is Hotel Felix located in the hustle of the Windy City, but it has a eco-friendly spa complete with bamboo flooring, decorative walls made of recycled materials, and Sundari products. Gaia Napa Valley Hotel
You know your in good hands when your hotel name means "Mother Earth" in Greek. This is the first LEED certified and eco-friendly inn located in Napa. Gaia is the epitome of a luxury hotel and spa, with access to all of the fine dining restaurants and vineyards that Napa can offer. What's green about it? All carpet is made of recycled content, restrooms are made of recycled stone and tile, all wood used for the hotel is FSC (a council that maintains proper management of the world's forests).

The Orchard Garden Hotel
Chic, stylish and green! The Orchard is the epitome of boutique luxury in the Union Square of San Fran. Each of the 104 suites is decorated in soothing colors, black and white architectural photos cover the walls, organic bath products fill the bathrooms. Also ranked 5th by Trip Advisor as Best Luxury Hotel.

Zion Lodge
A Green lodge nestled in the hiker's paradise of Zion National Park. To start, the name "Zion" means peace and refuge. The lodge, which was rebuilt in 1966 after being destroyed by a fire, was rehabbed again in 1990. This is the perfect outdoor spot if you enjoy adventure and fresh air. The lodge and historic log cabins are surrounded by 146,000 acres of park.

70 Park Avenue Hotel
A Kimpton hotel, 70 Park Avenue is in the perfect location central to everything NYC can offer. Each room comes with Etro-spa inspired amenities, and iHome docking station, and a fully stocked organic bar. They pride themselves on recycling 60% of hotel waste and use only environmentally friendly products. Plus it's pet friendly!

Hotel Monaco
Hotel Monaco is eccentric, hip, and adventurous. National hotel locations include Chicago, Baltimore, Denver, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle and Salt Lake City, to name a few. The hotel provides in-room spa services and supports recycling programs.

Habitat Suites
Located in Austin, Habitat Suites won Austin's Green Hotel award. Their grounds are maintained with natural fertilizers and ladybugs populate their property. Natural cleaning products are used and recycling is a major priority. Luxurious private suites, herb gardens, the pool and jacuzzi's make this a healthy sanctuary.

Bardessono
You gotta love Napa and now Yountville has the hottest new green inn and spa in the area. It's small, only 62 rooms and decked with eco-friendly features including: Filtered water systems, fluorescent bulbs, 82 three-hundred foot geothermal wells to heat and cool guestrooms, 100 year-old olive trees decorate the property, and 940 solar panels decorate the rooftops of the buildings. In addition, Bardessono is pursuing a LEED certification.

Beyond greenness, the spa has a 75 foot long rooftop infinity pool, a decked out spa and a fine dining restaurant!

I'm gong to have to visit this list again when I head out of town or if I need to spend a night in the City! I also will end up at Bardessono if I ever get a chance to eat at French Laundry. Great list!

Me too! These hotels don't shrink on any of the standard amenities either, in fact they really step it up a notch!

Looks like they are all anywhere but here in Boston. As far as I know we only have one LEED certified hotel and it's in the suburbs in Lexington - the Element by Westin. Great list! Though 'luxury' and 'eco-friendly' can be an oxymoron, they seem to coincide here quite nicely. :)

I'll have to do a bit of research and find you some appropriate Bostonian eco-hotels:) I was surprised by how upscale these LEED hotels are as well, but if anything, they are a bit more chic and classier than many of your standard hotel chains. Thanks for the comment!
