Well, here we have Count Orlok's favorite films and a nice little sampling of my eclectic (some might say 'schizo') interests. To make things interesting and easier on me, only the first five films on this list are in preferential order and I have not included explanations as to why these films made this list, because I hope to eventually review all of them. So strap yourselves in and take a gander at this bitchin' collection that spans the past century in film!
I was hoping for a focused non-genre list of more mainstream films since we're all pretty well up to date on your genre favorites. Although calling ADAPTATION mainstream isn't entirely accurate i guess. That's how I would up with so many different list--trying not to repeat myself.

What non-genre films do you mean. All films can be put into at least one genre or another. I do have some genre-specific list (Vampires, Horror, Sci-Fi, Space Opera, Classic Animation, Pixar Films, Stop Motion Animation, etc.).
Anything that doesn't fit into the genres you named, the ones that are not considered to be mainstream.

Since when is "Nosferatu" mainstream? A film can be either commercially successful or critically successful without being mainstream. "The Dark Crystal" and "Donnie Darko" are both cult classics that flopped at the Box Office, but have since been recognized as masterpieces.

Gee, I never thought I'd have to tell you which of your films were or were not mainstream. DEAD POETS SOCIETY, THE WRESTLER, THE PRODUCERS, THE GRADUATE, CRASH, THERE WILL BE BLOOD, ROMEO AND JULIET, LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, and to a lesser degree ADAPTATION and MEMENTO are mainstream films that are not in any of the genres that I'm talking about. Oops. Forgot REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE. Notice that I left out JAWS since I consider it a horror film. =)
I totally couldn't get into ET... there, I said it. That's my little black box of movie secrets, right there. Everyone I talk to loves that movie to death but I never got into it. Even though I thought There Will Be Blood was a great movie I didn't really jump all over that one either... but that's one that the more I see it the more it grows on me. For whatever reason, though, I just get bored with it, and I don't really know why considering dialog, ambitious themes and well... drama is what I'm typically attracted to. By all means There Will Be Blood almost screams to be among my favorite films...
two movies on this list that I haven't seen...not too bad. I may rectify one but the other film just doesn't exactly interest me. Glad you have ADAPTATION on this list, I thought I was a loner on that one..

I liked Adaptation but not sure it would my my all-time favorite list. Great film though nonetheless.
Interesting list. I don't know if I would've ranked all these personal cenobite favorites but I do love atleast a good half of the ones you mentioned here. Especially Pan's Labyrinth & Pulp Fiction.

I would have expanded it to 50, but the site only allows 35.
Yeah, that kinda sucks! I think I will do a list soon of all the film I own on DVD. That could take some time though.
Count_Orlok_22December 02, 2009
I did that on MySpace. Quite fun, really.
cenobite7December 02, 2009
Started my first two lists. There are more to come but I have to find data points for some of the ones I will list or create new ones. Work to do as always! Haha!
woopak_the_thrillDecember 02, 2009
if I did a list with all the movies I own, it would take about a list that can take about 1000 movies...I don't think I can take on an exhausting project LOL
Count_Orlok_22December 02, 2009
Well, it doesn't have to be all the DVDs you own. Just the top rated ones (you know, the ones you'd go back into your burning house to save).
cenobite7December 02, 2009
Yeah, that's a tall order indeed but maybe you could narrow it down to just a few lists. I don't know if there any I would go back into a burning house for & risk my life to obtain but I could be dead wrong. Hmm, that's an idea for a list. Movies I would've killed myself for & or almost died for. ;-)
