Robert Downy Jr in a period piece about a young surgeon who prfers to drink and whore his way through life until he meets Meg Ryan who is literally insane
Tom Conti plays a drunken poet styled after Dylan Thomas who makes his living giving poetry readings, and in his spare time seduces all the suburban housewives he can--until he meets the very young Kelly McGillis.
A young Chinese man living in California must suddebly produce a fiancee when his parents come to visit him from the old country. The trouble is he doesn't have a fiancee, and oh yeah, he's living with his gay lover.

Love of country, love of God, love of power, and the love of a man for a woman--this Bollwood flick has it all, plus some neat musical numbers.

New York Chinatown in the 1940s. Be's wife wants some attention, Ben's boss wants some dedication, Ben's father wants' some grandchildren, and Ben just wants a minute to sort it out.
A housewife enters and wins a contest to travel to Paris and meet the author of her favorite mystery series. She gets konked on the head though and believes that she IS the heroine of those books, drawing the books' author and herself into areal life mystery and (of course) a comical love affair. Sadly, I think I'm the only person who could ever accept Tom Conti as a romcom hero.
Several different love stories set against battles between the Spanish Christians and the Moors. Tonya Roberts leads the cast in this foreign language flick.
I thought you hated the remake of Kong... Also, you have the original version of "Moulin Rouge" selected, not the Baz Luhrman version. Maybe there aren't data points for both (I'll check). Cool list. There are quite a few of these that I haven't seen.

Cancel out my last comment, it is the Baz Luhrman version. Someone either combined it with the data point for the original or added details from the original, but either way, the problem is fixed,
West Side Story and An Affair to Remember were classics that I should have put on my list. Great going!

Love the Jerome Robbins choreography in WEST SIDE STORY. Sometime in April a theater here is Having some of the original cast at a couple of showings of the film. I'm not sure I want to see an almost 70 year old Bernardo though.
never saw # 5, 16 and 17. I just love your picks for #'s 19 (really a forgotten gem), 14 (no surprise right?), 8 and # 1. Not really a big romance movie buff but I like what you did with this list! #'s 20 and 21 may scare away my date though LOL!

Sort of surprised about your not having seen AN AMERICAN IN PARIS and MOULIN ROUGE since those were probably 2 of the biggest pictures in there. While the fact that you;ve seen HEARTS AND ARMOUR absolutely stuns me! You need to run a check on any date who would be scared away by KING KONG and CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON though. Is that really your kind of gal?
Well, Moulin Rouge is a musical so I don't really like them except for THE WICKER MAN. Hearts and Armour is a favorite! I even own the import dvd! as for #'s 20 and 21, yup you are right, she wouldn't be my type!

I don't like them as a rule either, which is why my love for Bollywood is such a mystery. I'll always make an exception for Gene Kewlly though and I loved the recycling of pop songs in the Luhrman movie. But HEARTS AND ARMOUR is so great! i wish they'd put it out on DVD already in the US.
I am the poster child for inertia. Where ever I am is where I plan to stay FOREVER. So much so in fact that it took me decades to understand the punchline about why the chicken … more
