My top ten favorite movies.

1
Men With Guns
John Sayles' magnum opus about violence.
2
13 Days
John F. Kennedy and the Cuban Missle Crisis. Every president should be forced to watch this film at the beginning of his presidency.
3
The Whole Wide World
Adaptation of Novalyne price Ellis' book "One Who Walked Alone" which tells of her relationship with Robert E. Howard, the creator of Conan, King Kull, etc.
4
JFK (1991)

Oliver Stone never intended for this to be taken as gospel, folks. Lighten ip. He just wanted to make us think, and there is an awful lot to think about here.

5
Poster for the movie
This isn't really #4 since it's actually the second part of another film. JFK was the first part. These two films are really meant to be seen in concert I think. Stone accomplished something I thought no one could ever do, he made me understand Nixon a little better, and hate him a lot less.
6
Jodhaa Akbar

A lavish Bollywood production about a Moghul Prince who became Emperor partially by taking a Hindu woman as his bride and allowing her to keep her own religion--but he still had to win her love and her respect. Caused a terrible controversy.
7
The Lion in Winter
We're talking about the Katherine Hepburn Peter O'Toole version of course! THIS is a movie!
9
The Black Stallion
A magnificently filmed version of the Walter Farley story of a boy and the wild Arabian Stallion.
10
Asoka
My first Bollywood experience, and you know what they say about your first time!

You are certainly the MOVIE Queen here on Lunch! :-)

That's such a hard list to make. Most of my favorite movies are actually horror movies, but here I decided to just exclude them and give them their own lists.
September 28, 2009
I wouldn't call that hard! :-) What's HARD is where one's true passion lies, one is NOT allowed to review them here on Lunch! All my travels.... *sigh*.... *SIGH*.....................
September 28, 2009
Really? Scotman does stuff on his vacation spots and I've seen others too.
September 28, 2009
That's coz I'm the TRAVEL Queen here. They are not! ;-)

Lunch will be sued should I do that here ;-)

I like Johdaa Akbar too!  I think the first Bollywood film I liked was Monsoon Wedding.  I should watch it again and write a review.  I need to check out Asoka.

I think you should review it too. Have you seen SUCH A LONG JOURNEY? That was a terrific movie, it was Indian but not Bollywood in that wonderful singing-and-dancing sense. Hrithik Roshan was pretty hot in JODHAA AKBAR. But I seem to prefer the goofy charm of Shahrukh Khan who admits that he isn't all that good looking. He once said that he and Tom Cruise and a lot in common, they were both short, had big noses, and "were adored by millions of women for no apparent reason." Ya gotta love a man like that. I reviewed another of his films, OM SHANTI OM. I keep wanting to review JODHAA AKBAR but I'm afraid I wouldn't do it justice.

No, I haven't seen Such A Long Journey. Another one to put in my queue. Yay! I have to agree that Hrithik Roshan was pretty hot. Hahaha. I don't think I have seen any movies with Shahrukh Khan, but he does sound like a character from your description.

In OM SHANTI OM Khan does a musiv video from his character's latest movie and it's a number called "My Heart is Filled With the Pain of Disco" . It's supposed to ba a parody of one of Roshan's dance numbers. I'd LOVE to see the original version of that!! Shahruhk doesn't look that bad in his version either. They say he spent an extra 3 months in the gym getting ready for it.
