DVDs You Have to Have, Part One!

Well, it occurs to me that I've reviewed films in two separate ways. Sometimes I review the film itself and other times I review the DVD of that film. In order to make things a bit easier on people who are trying to figure out which version of the film they should buy on DVD, especially in an age where most films have at least three different DVD releases, here is my list of DVDs you have to have!
Rather than place these in preferential order, I've placed them in the order of the best video/audio quality and the quantity and quality of the special features. Enjoy!
By the way, I'll be adding descriptions of the DVD features over the next few days, so be patient...

Here I am! Here I am! Great list! I've seen most of these. To be honest, I did not like Donnie Darko that much but then again I didn't finish it yet. :( No review until I finish it, that is my policy. Anything Richard Matheson is a must-have. Gargoyles, never really got into that stuff. Anything Kino or Criterion Collection is a must-have, too. In your Part 2 list I would like to see some more classic films. Great add on Pandora. I must see that one. I'm on the west coast so it takes awhile to wake up here.

This is the first time you haven't done a commentary, and I would really have liked to see what makes each one of these the one to have. I know it's because they have extras, but what are the extras that they have that all the other editions don't have?

I'll be elaborating on my reasons later. It will take a lot of time because I'll need to go through and do write-ups on technical specifications, special features, and audio and picture quality. At the moment, I'm bushed.

Then it works out about right. Three people left and I'm the only one reading it. That only leave 5% wandering around out there--not even a complete person.

Well, not exactly. There are still three people on the site on my friends list who normally would have noticed, but they aren't paying attention (yes, I'm talking about you guys, Woopak, Scottie, and Adrianna). LOL!

The only way to make more people read our stuff is to be persistent in writing to our adoring public, write comments on the people's reviews that interest us and then hopefully they will reciprocate. It's a matter of building new relations. Kinda like when you start a new job or join a new group. Sorry to see the other guys go, but as Queen said, don't give up. I wish they stayed and fought. No use regretting. I still see Christy on Amazon so all is not lost. (My two cents).

I've stopped writing to a couple of people because in over a year they haven't responded once. I don't just mean that they haven't read my reviews in return, I mean that they don't write responses to my comments. They must have been raised by robots.

Yes, I've seen those types as well. I have gotten two more buddies though as a result, Adrianna and AerinBlue (hope I got that right). I wrote a new review too, on the old TV show The Fugitive. I was way too young to watch it when it first came out. Excellent TV.

Scotty--one of my mother's two claims to fame was that she was treated by the real life doctor that THE FUGITIVE was based on, Dr. Sam Sheppard who lived in an exclusive area around Cleveland. (Her other claim to fame was that she bough a bowling ball from Paul Newman during the time he worked in his parent's sporting goods store. She said he wasn't the kind of person you forgot.)

I read some trivia that they had to move the story for The Fugitive to a state that had the death penalty because the original state they used, Wisconsin I think, didn't have it. I want to borrow more of these old TV DVDs.

I don't remember what state they used, but of course it really took place in Ohio.
