Less really is more

Le Carre writes with such spare tautness that his books seem dense with meaning and passion. Less really is more.

A former Cold War spy who knows the technical details of which he writes, and one wonders if the background is perfect training for the skill of crafting such well-turned fiction.

A comparison came to mind as I read TTSS: Loren Estleman's mystery fiction, whose skill at laconoc anticlimacticism in that genre is matched by Le Carre 's best in his.
