With the release of Captain America: The First Avenger now out, the comicbook summer of 2011 now comes to a close. We had our ups with X Men First Class and our downs or at the very least dissapointments with Green Lantern but when the Golden Age hero Captain America now hit the big screen, the summer was going out on a high note. So I'm just going to say right off that I enjoyed this movie, although the bar was set pretty low what with Thor, which - lets face it - was not a very good movie. I still find Captain America to be a decent movie based on the character. My original feelings haven't changed at all; the movie doesn't get any better and fortunately it doesn't get any worse. The action scenes have some pretty cool moments, and for the most part side characters were used rather well and the very light comedy meshed well too. I enjoyed Evans a lot more as Cap. The movie has a lot to do and very little time to do it.Captain America: The First Avenger needs to tell its origin story, explain how he got from fighting Hitler to today, and needs to set up for next summer's blockbuster The Avengers all while entertaining the audience. Well, they actually pulled it off. Despite any and all odds, Marvel found the right set of directors, (Letterier, Favreau, Branagh, and Johnston) to bring their biggest heroes (Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America, respectively) to the big screen. I was well entertained throughout the entire film. It's a combo of Back to the Future, Spiderman and even Independence Day! I thought it's one of the films that Hollywood excels in. Definitely a feel-good film for the Americans. Vegas-style entertainment!

As a rare treat for both of us, I took my 11 year old son out to see Captain America: The First Avenger last week. We both enjoyed it much more than we expected to. This is a super hero movie with a heart, is not (too) over the top and the depiction of 1940s Brooklyn (and elsewhere) was spot on! My advice is to avoid the 3D version. 90 lb weakling is transformed into a mighty man to fight the Nazi's and they're scheming scientists in WWII. Not a dull moment in the movie and more action then a lot of other Marvel fare. The best of the Summer of 2011 genre action was saved for last.

Another Comic book movie is coming out this year. This is like the 4th one over all and as always im stoked to see this. From the trailers It looks like this is gonna be a good movie.
