Vince Vaughn is the unfortunate underachieving older brother of none other than Santa himself. It's hard to compete with nostalgic classics like A Christmas Story and pure childish fun like Elf. Many have failed. Fred Claus. Well, Fred nearly pulls it off. Enough for me to purchase the movie and make it a must watch at least once during the Christmas season. The whole family really enjoyed this movie, parents, 17 and 12 year old. What we particularly liked, the film had a pleasant message without being a sledge hammer. "Kids are not naughty." It also wasn't saccharine. And there was no super scary climax that would scare any kid watching the movie. It moved from point A to point B at a good pace.
