A Quick Tip by Trekscribbler

  • Nov 17, 2010
A guilty pleasure flick if there ever was one from the '80's, GALAXY OF TERROR is a Roger Corman production, and I think your enjoyment of Corman's work in the late 70's and 80's is essential to getting some enjoyment out of this "thinker stinker." Tip: James Cameron's fingerprints are all over this piece, and, if you have the time, watch the Special Features documentary. It's terrific.

Great tip. I linked the topic to Forbidden Planet community. I like Corman's earlier stuff but have not seen too much of his later stuff. Pirahna (SP) is another fun one of his. I met Corman at San Diego Comicon which was great since he was not mentioned in the program books -- man, I got lucky! His Poe films are excellent.

I loved his BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS, which is pretty much a thematic counterpoint to GALAXY OF TERROR. His HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP is pulpy fun, too, but of a more exploitationst fare. I've never met him, but, from what I've seen in a handful of interviews and special feature documentaries, he just appears so likeable.

Indeed. I got his Forbidden World DVD and posted a quickie tip but need to fill it out. I've wanted to see Battle for quite awhile. I read a 1940s short story with that same title. Thanks!
