This has always been my second favourite of the HP movies (first one being Order of the Phoenix) and it is still my favourite book, even after the release of the 7th. Naturally, with a book as good as this, they might try a little harder to make it's film adaptation (a sequel to an already popular film) as good as possible. Luckily, they did, and we have this great film to show for it.      The first thing I really loved about the movie was that it has Dobby. Dobby, like …

I just watched this movie again on the TV. It was better than I had remembered! Courage, wit and quite a bit of surprises... that's what are so great about Harry Potter movies. Love it! Dobby appeared in this one quite a bit. It's been some 8 years and I've almost forgotten about all the previous Harry Potter movies. However, it's truly nice to watch it again! Harry Potter is a lot more fun to watch when he was young ;-)

The second installment in the Harry Potter series has some fun moments. I love the character of Gilderoy Lockhart. He's well played and adds humor to the movie. Hagrid's character also gets some more development.     I'm not as crazy about the plot. It's a bit too convoluted, and much of it is never really explained well (even after watching "Half-Blood Prince," I still don't understand how Voldemort could have controlled Ginny Weasley or lived through a book). Dobby was really …

After the phenomenal success of J.K. Rowling's first four Harry Potter novels and the first Harry Potter film, there was no doubt that the boy wizard would be returning to the big screen. In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, we are given a darker tale that explores the pasts of Hogwarts' students and professors.      It was with this story that author J.K Rowling first began to experience a backlash from more conservative parents. Most were disturbed by the themes …

I made a much longer review about the Ultimate editions of the Harry Potter films in the review I posted for the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Ultimate Edition) [Blu-ray] so I am just going to go over the highlights concerning this specific film in this review. For full details on why I think the Ultimate Editions are awesome, see my Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Ultimate Edition) [Blu-ray] review.    The HD video and sound are excellent in this version of the …

"Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" pulls off something that only "The Empire Strikes Back" has done. It's better than the first film! Not only is the story more interesting(though the first was tops as well), it's packed with even more wonder and imagination than the first as well. The castmembers of the first flick return, as well as Kenneth Branagh in a superb performance as Lockhart, the bumbling, vain writer of "Magical Me."I'm sure the naysayers had a wonderful time bashing this sequel …

In a nutshell: Chris Colombus can't direct for toffee. This is a dreadful rendering of a damn good read. Acting: By and large, dreadful - as you would expect from twelve year olds, but very disappointing from the support cast of adult, eminence grises of the British acting establishment. Coherence: poor - no one can blame Colombus for being unimaginative in his transfer of the book to the screen (to do otherwise would be to be crucified by a lynch mob of 9 year olds), but the transfer at least needs …

Everyone knows that when you wait anxiously for a movie for a long time your expectations grow higher by the minute and you often go to the theater and become disilusioned due to your exagerated expectaions. Not so for the second movie in the Harry Potter series. This movie exceeded my expectations inmensely. I could barely contain my excitement. The movie, chronicles Harry's second year at Hogwarts and his new adventure. It also does justice to the book. This movie ia absolutely worth it. A must …

Pros: Great story and fx lots of fun.      Cons: May be to dark and scary for younger fans.     The Bottom Line: A true classic that will delight and entertain fans the world over.              Following the success of “Harry Potter and the Sorcer’s Stone” the second movie based upon the popular book series by J.K. Rowlings “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” has made its way to theaters …
