Just Like Heaven
I enjoy this movie very much.   Oh yeah, I saw (didn't read it) on Lunch a bad review of it but I thought, well, plenty of people love Titanic but I didn't as well. So, here's a different perspective about this particular movie.      Just Like Heaven is entertaining. It is an easy going and comical movie, unlike What Dreams May Come which I just wrote a review on. Still, towards the end, it is a moving movie. It's one where I'll never forgive the …

Reese and Ruffalo had a great chemistry in their comedic performances.

This movie is just plain sweet. David (Mark Ruffalo) rents a (drop-dead gorgeous) apartment in San Francisco. He quickly finds that he has, like it or not, a kind of room mate in the form of Elizabeth (Reese Witherspoon). Well, sort of a room mate because it quickly becomes apparent that Elizabeth isn't alive. David resents the intrusion and the scenes showing his attempts to drive Elizabeth out are hilarious.     But Elizabeth isn't going anywhere because this is - or rather …

This Ghost ripoff doesn't seem to have the quite the story, acting or likable characters that Ghost had. In this one Reese Witherspoon is an apparent ghost that only Mark Ruffalo can see and hear. She follows him around and them helps him save a man's life with some quick, on the spot medical advice. This makes her and Ruffalo believe that she was a person with medical training and they head to a hospital after Ruffalo is hurt.     While in the hospital Witherspoon says that …

I must confess I'm a sucker for a movie like this. It is a very cute story of an unhappy man with an unhappy past who rental turns out to be occupied by Reese Witherspoon but not physically.    It is a ghost story with a twist that I won't go into. If you are the sentimental type then you will find yourself glued.    What's more interesting are the end of life issues that are brought up in this picture. I don't know if that had an effect on the box office …

JUST LIKE HEAVEN finds its audience because of the stars. Reese Witherspoon, who actually CAN act as we have seen in Vanity Fair and Walk the Line), here falls back on her commercial blockbuster successes like Legally Blonde 1 & 2, etc. Doubtless films like this one are something she can do in her sleep, and the box office results make it worth her time. But it is a bit disappointing to see Mark Ruffalo step out of his usual proclivity for choosing films of substance to spend time on fluff like …
