This film is the second (or third, if you count Event Horizon) big screen adaptation of Polish sci-fi author Stanislaw Lem's novel Solaris. The first was made by the Russian master filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky, and incorporates Lem's intense speculation regarding a future in which our own hidden drives come to haunt us through our technologies with his own slowly meditative style. I can recall seeing Solaris (2002 version) about a year after it came out on home video. The movie appeared interesting and it seemed like a different type of film for George Clooney. I had no real expectations for the movie, I do remembering I rented this movie several days after I broke up with a girlfriend. Pros: Nice effects, good soundtrack     Cons: no plot, no structure     The Bottom Line: Neither my husband nor I got the point of this movie.
