I just happened to catch this one on cable the other day.  Jason Segel and Emily Blunt meet at New Year's Eve party.  She is dressed as Princess Diana and he in a Bunny costume.  The two hit it off and then in a very 'awkward" moment they propose to each other.   They then go to plan their wedding.      Segel is a chef at a top San Francisco restaurant and on the verge of being named head chef.  Blunt is a Brit with a large family in …

Star Rating:         I have no idea if five years is too long a time to be engaged, but I do know that, at 124 minutes, The Five-Year Engagement is too long a film. It’s not so much that it’s bogged down by superfluous subplots or an overabundance of characters. It does, however, suffer from a lack of reasonable pacing. Many scenes feel unnecessarily extended; I have no way of knowing if any of the dialogue was actually improvised, but certain passages do …
