"Unsolved Suburbia"

Love, Secrets, Betrayal

Amos Lassen

Ariztical has really upped the ante with their last few movies that have all been very good. Staying in that tradition, they are bringing us "Unsolved Suburbia", a drama about secrets and betrayal. Eddie has a boyfriend, Thomas, A Latino whose family has certain expectations of him so he is torn before boyfriend and family. Thomas's brother is also out-and-out homophobic, Eddie gets shot and Thomas and his friends Marty and Jake try to find out who did it and why and Marty who is afraid of what might happen to Thomas from both his brother and the shooter take him to a place where he will be safe. At the same time Jake tries to find out what is going on in the neighborhood in reference to this whole business.
Marty has his own problems. His boyfriend and his girlfriend discover that he has been sleeping with both of them but then Marty also uncovers some secrets of his own and suddenly everything looks much more serious. The acting is excellent and we get a look at what goes on in a Latino family when one of the sons is gay. Cheetah Gonzalez, the director, has done a fine job with his film.
