The Christmas season's hottest toy, Buzz-Saw Louie, revolts against his greedy manufacturers and joins Larry the Cucumber and Bob the Tomato for a spiritual odyssey that teaches them the true meaning of Christmas. A fun musical adventure with an important … see full wiki
This is the first VeggieTales Christmas movie. The movie is about Junior Asparagus and his friends discovering the real meaning of Christmas. They along with the rest of their town have been brainwashed by a TV commercial saying that a Toy with a chainsaw arm tells the real meaning of Christmas when he says it is about presents and having the most toys. Junior and his friends (Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber) find a toy that escaped from the factory and is searching for the real meaning of Christmas because he knows it is not what he is programmed to say. On the adventure to figure out the true meaning Christmas they learn about the first Christmas as told in the Bible and teach the factory owner the true meaning of Christmas as well.
One of the sections of Special Features is called Features. Here there is the TV Version of the Toy that Saved Christmas called the VeggieTales Christmas Spectacular. The format of the show is a little different with it appearing to be a live show on television and the silly songs at the beginning while they try to find the tape of the movie instead of being placed as intermissions in the DVD version of the Toy that Saved Christmas. Here there is also an audio commentary, which points out how some things in the show were changed from the TV Version to the version on the DVD and it is not just the placement songs. There is also a Behind the Scenes clip about the making of this episode. Additionally, there is an Easter Egg (hidden extra) on this menu. If you press your left arrow key when on the top of the menu you will see it highlight over a toy shape. Hitting enter when on this symbol you see the list of the 8 Polish Foods of Christmas and the VeggieTales characters singing them to the tune of 12 Days of Christmas. The most interesting part is that as they sing they stop to explain the different Polish food names that some viewers might not be familiar with such as Pierogies and Kielbasas.
The second section of special features is called Fun! Here are special features that tend to be more interesting to kids that like VeggieTales than the special features in the Features section, although they will probably enjoy the Easter Egg on the Features page. This section has the usual fun Veggietales special features including a Trivia Chalenge, Oh Santa Sing along, a storybook of The Star of Christmas (the other VeggieTales Christmas movie), a Family Fun Activity idea, and Countertop Recipes. There is also a game called Pea-Kaboo where you use your remote to select items trying to find which one the pea is hiding in. To get to the Easter Egg on this page hit the left arrow key on your remote when it is on The Star of Christmas Storybook option. This is basically just a Merry Christmas greeting from a French Pea.
