Bond returns after being presumed dead to find MI6 in peril from a man with a (big) grudge against M.

Fans of the series won't really care about the plot; it's all about the explosions, pretty girls, high body count, and 007's cleverness. Daniel Craig's emotional repertoire consists of pursing his lips and squinting his eyes - he's no Sean Connery (who, by the way, would have been great as Bond's trusty, Scottish gamekeeper). We do get much more of Judi Dench as M and she's wonderful. Javier Bardem is good as the crazed villain, but his blond hair keeps him from being truly menacing.

My biggest problem was with the plot which is narrowly focused on offing M, rather than the traditional 007 storyline of a madman seeking world domination. Also, it can be awkward, and even silly, clinging to things like the tuxedo and martini while embracing modern crime-fighting technology.

The movie delivers nonstop action scenes (despite many plotholes) and that's what James Bond is all about. 3.5 stars.

 Judi Dench as "M"

007 is Back to Fix The
The James Bond series (movie franchise) have stood tall for 50 years, survived the switch between various actors (Sean Connery being one of them) and now with this 23rd installment, the filmmakers are poised to wrap up the what some saw as a ‘reboot’ with Daniel Craig’s 3rd performance in the lead character. “Casino Royale” was fantastic and breathed new life into the “Bond identity”. While Quantum of Solace “ was indeed flawed, it was still better …

After I was put to sleep by the last Bond film, I was not up for another. But with all the big critical reviews, I thought i would give this one a shot. I am glad I did. This one grabbed me from the opening sequence with Bond on a high speed chase on motorcyles, that included going across the roofs of buildings and culminating in his apparent death.    As the film progresses, someone has cracked Interpol's computers and gotten a list of every agent working undercover throughout …

The Spy Who Loved Me Came In From The Cold
It really is funny when you think about it.  In 1995 when James Bond was reinvented for modern times with Goldeneye and had of all people, M tell Bond that he was, if I'm not mistaken a "Sexist Misogynist Dinosaur: A Relic of the Coldwar."  Now it's 2012.  M is still Judi Dench and SHE of all people is being called "old fashioned" along with Bond who may still have the look but after coming back from a near fatal injury may not have the sharpest edge anymore.  …

PROS: Gamboling maliciously as this flick's nefarious hacker, bleach-blonde Javier Bardem tickles a viewer's imagination with playful homoerotic intimations and histrionic harangues Despite the unfortunate relative brevity of her role, luscious Gallic eurasian Bérénice Marlohe exudes more allure than any of her Anglophone castmates Rich-hued, umbratic, glimmering, gorgeous photography as assured by Roger Deakins, now consequently twice absent from Coen Bros. productions …

It has been four years since the last James Bond movie, and for a while there was a legitimate concern the Quantum of Solace would be the last James Bond movie with MGM going bankrupt.  That would have been a horrible way to end the series.  But here it returns to its glorious form a perfect mix of what we have come to expect from both the character in relation to the series and Daniel Craig's spin on the character.  Skyfall is a perfect blend of what we should …

'Skyfall' James Bond is back and he's better than ever (Video)
By Joan Alperin Schwartz   'Skyfall' directed by the super talented Sam Mendes gives us a very different James Bond.      Yes, he's still the charismatic, super macho male that loves sex, hot women, hot cars, gambling and kicking butt. But this time around, he's also vulnerable, slightly worn out and much more human. And that's what makes this film one of the best of the Bond's.               &nb …

After just coming back from seeing this film, I can conclude this is the best of the Daniel Craig bond movies. action is spot on, performances are great all around, and the film features a great title track that harkens back to the days of Connery and Shirley Bassey. the film features a bit of the absurd hollywood style computer hacking that you see nowadays, but it should not seriously annoy most movie-goers.
