The Lone Ranger has been always been a character who is trying to achieve justice. He is not a person who goes looking for trouble. The Lone Ranger is reluctant to even carry a gun around at first. His favorite book is the Treatise on Government. He is a person who used to box in college. I like the personality traits that this Lone Ranger possesses. The character of the Lone Ranger is named John Reed. He is played Armie Hammer. I know many people who have seen this film will criticize Hammer's performance as the iconic character. His performance is more comedic than serious. I enjoy the fact that his performance that his performance is more comedic than serious,. I enjoyed this film because I did not expect much for it. I wanted to see the good guys riding on horses shooting at the bad guys. I saw what I wanted to see. I love the William Tell overture that plays during the action sequences. This film was shot in Arizona and California. I enjoy seeing what looked like part of Grand Canyon. The canyon and rock cliffs look beautiful in the film. The antagonist is a character named Butch Cavendish. He is a person who has a penchant for eating human flesh. Helena Bonham Carter plays a character whose leg gets eaten by Cavendish. You don't see this on screen though. The neat thing about her character is that she wears what looks like to be a cast or fake leg, She has a cannon in her boot. I enjoyed watching shoot at things with her cannon boot. Johnny Depp plays Tonto. I enjoy the humor that he brings to the role. He defines the term kimo sabi as wrong brother. I think that is pretty funny. My only complaint is that Johnny Depp says kimo sabi much too often in the film. His usage of the term becomes irritating and not endearing like it should be. I enjoyed the swash buckling spirit of the film. I did not have to think to enjoy this film.
Expectations play an important part in the enjoyment of a film. Sometimes one needs to know what he is in for, and I always try to see any movie’s merit (unless there is none). “The Lone Ranger” is a character that has graced radio shows, TV, and film. The last time I saw the character was in 1981’s “The Legend of the Lone Ranger” film and the Saturday morning cartoon that I only watched because it was back to back with the “Zorro” cartoon series. … more
By Joan Alperin Schwartz So you can imagine my surprise, when I sat down to watch 'The Lone Ranger' and found it filled with one joke after another...and not very funny ones. That's right guys and girls, this is an action comedy, at least according to the press notes...And there is plenty of action...Unfortunately, for me, it wasn't enough to save the film. 'The Lone Ranger' actually reminded … more
It seems like all Native America wanted to talk about this summer was "The Lone Ranger" and whether it honored or offended Native Americans. I've read articles from Native people on both sides, so I'll let my words be few on this topic. Frankly, I expected it to be worse. It makes some honest, if clumsy and possibly misguided, attempts to honor Native peoples. Its greatest sin is that it relegates Native Americans to the past. Tonto appears to be the last living Indian, … more
