No one will ever accuse Larry The Cable Guy of being subtle nor should anyone ever say any film he's ever in is a work of art. Delta Farce is purely what you'd expect a movie to be with this kind of title, silly.
Larry the Cable Guy just got fired from a resturant job and his friend Bill, an unemplyed layabout and Everett a tetched little redneck are having fun at their abandonned National Guard base when suddenly an order comes in for more troops to the Middle East and Col Gilgore (no not Robert Duvall) comes to whip the "pissants" into shape and get them ready for action. While en route a lightning storm occurs making the cargo plane dump extra supplies and that includes Larry and his friends. Waking up in the middle of a desert, Larry, Bill and Everett get their gear ready and head off to Baghdad, only problem is they landed in Mexico and end up fighting off gangsters instead of terrorist insurgents.
Sounds pretty stupid doesn't it? Yeah it does, and yes it is. There is not one piece of brain power in this movie and even the premise of an Army base in Georgia flying over Mexico to get to Iraq is pushing it. A lot is cliched, some of the jokes are sitcom level and the training montage of sorts feels like Police Academy or at the very least, a bad cartoon and no one is going to win an academy award for thei acting, not even Danny Trejo who steals the show as the gangster leader, the dreaded Carlos Santana (no not the guitar player)
In spite of all that and a side of nachos, I had fun with this movie. It didn't overstay it's welcome, it isn't numbing with special effects and CGI and yeah the leads are dummys but you want to see them make it home safe with somne dignity intact.
This is one of those movies you really need to set expectations low to enjoy. If your a Larry fan, then maybe keep them a little higher. Keep in mind that this movie telegraphs a mile away, so if you think it's going to annoy you, then you should have not even turned it on to begin with and Git R Done with another movie.
