Eat Pray Love is a visual spectacle of a movie based on the best selling book. Director Ryan Murphy takes movie goers to a trip to three beautiful locales in the film. Julia Roberts stars as New York writer Elizabeth Gilbert. She spends one year of her life living in Italy, India and Bali. She is on a mission to find happiness after getting a divorce from her husband Stephen. He played by Billy Crudup.
Julia Roberts inhabits the character of Elizabeth Gilbert. She is a woman with lives life to the fullest. I love the scenes in the movie where she is learning to speak Italian and practices in public. This is Julia Roberts best role since Erin Brockovich in 2000.
Every scene in this movie is beautifully shot. I love the scenes in Italy where Elizabeth literally eats everything from pizza to pasta. There is one scene in India where Elizabeth attends a traditional Indian wedding. The traditional Indian wedding ceremony is lovely to watch on the screen. I love looking at the goregous shots of the beaches in Bali in the movie. Director Ryan Murphy makes me want to visit these places.
The supporting cast so good in this movie. Oscar nominated actor Richard Jenkins plays a mentor for Elizabeth Gilbert in India. He gives her insight on how to live a happier life. Javier Bardem and James Franco play love interests for Elizabeth in the film. The music in this film is superb. I love the song "S' Wonderful" by a singer named Joao Gilberto. Other songs in the movie include the Neil Young classic "Heart Of Gold" and Marvin Gaye's "Got To Give It Up". Eat Pray Love is one of the best movies of the year. I loved it.
