When we were young and lay abed

We'd often heard the tale
Of Riding Hood and hungry wolf
But now that version's stale
Thanks to this fresh and fractured film
We go behind the scenes
And analyze each character
And all their ways and means
The wolf is dressed in Granny-drag
and Red's in obvious danger
Granny's in the closet
And the Woodsman's even stranger
The Goody Bandit's wreaking heck
On all the forest folk
By stealing valued recipes
And leaving them for broke
The police force is on the case
The bandit must be found
The usual suspects tell their tales
And swing the story round
The wolf's not really as he seems
And Red's got kung-fu moves
Granny's into extreme sports
The Woodsman's job improves
I watched this movie with my son
We watched it twice thereafter
We thought that Granny stole the show
as we both roared with laughter

In my opinion the fairy tale as source material for an animated feature spans two extremes: On the one end is Shrek (and it’s seemingly never ending sequels) and the other are the Happily N’ever After films. This was one funny and clever kid's movies I have seen recently. My kids loved it instantly, and asked to watch it again. If there's one thing that annoys me, it's judging a book by its cover, or, in the case of a CGI film, by the CGI budget. There's been a lot of badmouthing the animation on Hoodwinked, even by people who say that the story more than makes up for it. About this movie
This new spin on an old fable is from first-time director Cory Edwards, who also co-wrote the story and screenplay. Virtually everyone knows the story of Little Red Riding Hood, the young girl who brings a basketful of goodies to her Granny's house only to discover the Big Bad Wolf impersonating her beloved grandmother. In this digitally animated version of the classic tale, a bolder Red (Anne Hathaway) is a delivery girl for her Granny's sweets shop. The Big Bad Wolf (Patrick Warburton) is there as well, but this time he's not exactly a threat. As for Granny (Glenn Close), she's hardly frail and sickly; she has a big secret that she's keeping from everyone--including Red.
