The Punisher is here to serve justice to the wicked....

I'm a massive, massive Marvel fan. I like all there character's(well almost all.) But the Punisher was never on my top ten list, until now. When I saw the trailer for "The Punisher" I didn't know what to think I thought this would be just another high octane action flick with allot of dead bodies and destruction. But what I got instead was a well thought out and executed revenge film.

This movie never felt to me like a comic book adaption, I never really thought of the Punisher as a comic book character, I saw him more a tuned to being just a film character than a comic book one he never really struck me as comic book material. But this film does good with his story and it tells it well, it's thought out and very, very malicious in it's "execution"(and I use that word loosely.) It's dark and foreboding, it's smart and taunt , It's calculating and at sometimes heart breaking the Punisher has it all to be a great revenge/ comic book film. And it is, it uses it's dark and sinister style to tell it's story with a moderate pace that (like I've mentioned in other reviews.) makes it easy to follow and understand the sequence of events as they play out in front of you. SO why is it is this film so underrated and under appreciated? Is it because it is too slow and not packed with wall to wall action? That I would say, from reading other reviews first, is a definite yes. But why is it this film is not considered comic book greatness? The answer I leave up to you to find out for yourself. But The Punisher is a vicious and merciless action film that is relentless in it's execution, dangerous in it's story and is all around fun.

Thomas Jane(who I never heard of until I saw his movie.) does well as The Punisher and he plays the part with such a distraught and subtly which is rare to see in such a violent movie. John Travolta(who does better.) Is not very convincing as the antagonist his character is more liked a white collar villain than a mobster and it's almost sad when he dies since he can't even put up a good fight. But all in all the cast does very well in this very good comic book film.

This movie is not ground breaking or anything extraordinary, but what it is is great and undeniable fun It's a very smart and thoroughly entertaining film that is sure to please an action fan or comic book fan, which ever is fine. It's a very good revenge film and the story of the birth of one of Marvel's most unhinged and brutal characters. It's not a film to be cherished or admired but it is one that will make you think, it'll make you think how far would you go to get back at someone who hurt your family? And that is the key to this films success , so if your forgiving and patient I can tell you that The Punisher will not disappoint you.All in all It delivers.

It's hard to know what to make of THE PUNISHER, Marvel's counterpoint to DC Comics' THE BATMAN. Both characters are vigilantes; both characters have been turned into who they are due to the criminal deaths of their families; and both are mere mortals. However, whereas THE BATMAN was given a big screen reception with star power and a modestly entertaining script, THE PUNISHER -- in its second attempt at the silver screen -- seems to languish in mediocrity.      Tom …

I just watched The Punisher last night with my boyfriend. At first I didn't think I'd like it, but it turned out to be a pretty good movie. It's about an FBI agent (Thomas Jane) who turns vigilante because of a mobster(John Travolta) who kills his wife, son and whole family while on vacation. The movie did have some parts I didn't think were necessary and didn't really understand what was going on, but overall it was a good movie. Of course it was a Marvel Comics movie, but good nonetheless. …
