Scotman says: "There are many nuances in this film that with repeated viewings even Woopak might enjoy.." sure, whatever. Why are you throwing another fit, Scot? IMHO, this movie is stupid and hokey--nothing can change my mind on that. A prime example of "giving the viewers what they want to see and not what they need to see". Glad you liked it, but I didn't. ...it is not because I didn't "get it", for me it was insulting to the people who died that day.
I think I saw parts of that Nazi version, and the Filipino comedic spoof was even better than this dreck--it was called "Tatay Nick" LOL!
caught the hockey thing LMAO!

Scot, whatever, dude, I saw the director's cut too. You say: "If you want a serious treatment of the conditions at the time then see the History channel". So, now basically you are telling me NOT to take a REAL tragic event seriously to enjoy this movie? LOL! Again, with the Academy awards...again! "Up" won over "Persepolis" (oh, I remember you saying that you haven't seen that film LOL!) and millions of viewers gave Bay's Transformers 2 huge returns. Now, if this didn't use the backdrop of a real event then maybe I'll be kinder to it. The thing is the tragedy of Titanic was tragic because of the ignorance of the generation at that time. True, Cameron is a good director albeit uneven, and I like the fact that he did his research for the visuals but that was it...the story was cheesy.
This movie was a trend and many got over it. Let's just leave it at that, You liked it, I didn't. No need to get snarky...
