The planet is being bombarded by small meteors that are landing outside the beach coasts in the water. Military intelligence learns that the meteors are actually slowing down before impact. Minutes later various cities are being attacked with Los Angeles apparently taking the worst of it. A Marine unit is sent into Los Angeles to battle and rescue any civilians found on the scene. But what exactly … more
Remember the 80's with movies like Masters of the Universe, Beastmaster 2, among others that took it's far out fantasy characters from another world, took them from that other world and dropped them into modern day Earth? How about other comic movies like Judge Dredd that remove the protagonist from his job and have him more down to Earth or less fantastic? Thats what sadly happens … more
I was pleasantly surprised. I generally like Matt Damon and he was solid but Emily Blunt ensured that it was more romantic than the usual Philip Dick story but not also ensures its not just a chick flick with special effects.
A genre blend that starts off strong despite the adherence to a multitude of western cliches, it all falls flat in the second act with the introduction of a lazy plot twist created for no other reason than to save the screenwriters the trouble of advancing the story through dialogue and character development, and give them an easy out for a typically lame Hollywood Happy Ending.
This movie had me so confused at the end. There are seemingly important parts that are passed over with minimal explainations to make way for more in depth development of parts that i thought where not as important in the telling of the story as a whole. The editing was not the greatest, the film jumps around alot, adding to the confusion. But on a good note the special effects were pretty cool looking..and … more
Give Kelly Reichardt (director) and Jonathan Raymond (writer) due credit. They may have created a failure in Meek’s Cutoff, but it’s a failure that is serious, thoughtful and encourages discussion. In 1845 three couples hire a guide to lead them through what is supposed to be a shortcut through the Oregon high desert to good homesteading land. Before long, … more
From all the harsh reviews and knowing that it starred someone who is principly a comedian (having remembered how brutal The Green Hornet was), I was reluctant to spend any "quality" time watching this. Well it became available at the library so I took it out and with nothing on tv but Dancing With the Stars, I decided to pop it in the DVD player. It actually held my interest throughout. Furthermore, … more

vampire_eyez posted a Quick Tip about Thor (2011 movie).
November 12, 2011
I tried really hard to like this movie but just couldnt get into it. It had its moments like most movies do that really had my attention it just couldnt hold it. But i will say some of the dialouge from Thor in his time on earth is outright hilarious.
Before reading the reviews and seeing the movies, I had assumed that this would be some dude action flick, but it turned out to be pleasantly more than that. I loved it. It's a trippy and thought-provoking movie with a great cast.
I've always enjoyed watching DC Comics' stable of heroes in cartoons and films more than actually reading about them in comics. To me, DC's heroes were, for the most part, more "super" than Marvel's crop of characters. They always seemed to be a bit more fantastical and otherworldly. Sure, Marvel has plenty of heroes who acquired there powers … more
I was prepared to love this movie. It had everything I would enjoy in a comic book super hero movie including the good looking hero, outstanding special effects. So what happened? I did like it, but did not love it. It definately needed some editing. It took forever for the story to take off. I know they had to explain all the back story, but it was so slow moving in the beginning. Coming from director … more
In the realm of Asgard the AllFather Odin (Anthony Hopkins) chooses a successor to his throne, and out of his two sons, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Thor is chosen. During the ceremony, the lower labyrinths of the castle have been infiltrated by an enemy from the past called the Frost Giants. The team is quickly killed, yet Thor isn't satisfied, he wishes to invade … more
*** out of **** I despise Oscar Bait; I really do. It's not fun watching filmmakers strip a film of all its artistry and thought-provoking attributes, actually, it ends up rather exhausting. Of course, there is good Oscar Bait ("The King's Speech"), but I still dislike the idea as a whole. If you don't even know what I'm on about and are scratching your head whenever I use the … more
"In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night, I wish this movie had escaped my sight....let those who worship Reynold's might, beware the critics...Blake Lively's Light!!" Sorry I just wanted to kid around. The movie was better than "Batman and Robin" See full review here. P.S. Blake Lively … more
Millions of years ago a race of immortals who safeguard the universe called the Guardians of the Universe, founded a group of intergalactic policemen called the Green Lantern Corp, whose job is to protect a sector of the universe. The Green Lanterns are armed with cosmic-powered rings that are only as strong as the bearer's will. One of their number Abin Sur (Temuera Morrison) neutralized … more
Here goes one flick that doesn't get the least bit better on additional watches but it does get worse. The movie is chock-full of inane comedic humor that doesn't even qualify as juvenile, more like infantile. And the human characters receive way too much screen time during the action-filled segments in a movie that's suppose to be about robots fighting each other to the death. … more
**1/2 out of **** Explosions, special effects, a sense of humor, and enthusiastic, dedicated leads. I'm getting tired of superhero movies; as 2011 seems to be a pretty big year for them, albeit a very mediocre one. You've got your good superhero movies and then you've got the ones that lack depth of importance. Chances are, I will forget most of the superhero movies I've seen … more
** out of **** For what it is, I guess "Vanishing on 7th" street can't really be called "bad". It has good intentions - and yes, ALL OF THEM are good - but such things can only go so far before you need to bring some actual creativity into the equation. I was hoping to be one of those few, but respected people that enjoyed the flick. I tried, I tried, and I tried; but kept … more

No one wants to become an addict to damage himself. Everyone becomes addicted to something because of the promise of becoming hipper, cooler, suaver, smarter and perhaps even more charismatic. Now let me stop myself from ripping off the prologue of BATMAN VENOM, and let us discuss director Neil Burger’s “Limitless”. It does have an interesting premise, as the screenplay by Leslie … more
I wasn't expecting much when I saw this film. I was thinking that it would be worse than Daredevil. It was actually better. Asgard had been at war with the Storm Giants but a truce now prevails. Thor and his brother Loki are shown being tutored by their father, Odin who is also King of Asgard. Odin decides that he will name Thor as his air and on the day he will make it public, … more
