My all-time favorite Michael Jackson tunes.

  • Jun 28, 2010
For three decades Michael Jackson rode high on the Billboard Top Pop Singles charts. Beginning as the lead singer of the highly popular Jackson 5 and then onto a remarkable career as a solo artist Michael Jackson left behind a sensational body of work. What follows is a list of my 10 favorite Michael Jackson singles as a solo artist. By all means, please feel free to compose your own list so we can compare notes.
She's Out Of My Life
Michael's haunting vocals on this one still send chills up and down my spine each time I hear it. You can hear the pain in his voice. All of us can relate to this situation.
Man in the mirror
I have always been partial to this fabulous 1988 hit which spent 2 weeks at the top of the charts.
The Girl Is Mine
Great vocals by both men. One of the top tunes of 1982!
Michael Jackson
A huge hit from his debut solo album "Off The Wall". Still enjoy hearing it today!
Beat It (song)
One of several huge hits culled from the "Thriller" album. The video for this tune was a staple on MTV in its earliest days.
Great tune and fabulous video. I love Vincent Price's narration!
Surprise! One of Michael's earliest solo efforts when he was still at Motown back in 1972. The vocal prowess he displayed on this one made it a lock that he was going to be a force to be reckoned with in the years ahead. The title tune from the motion picture of the same name.
Billie Jean
Another memorable hit from the "Thriller" album!
Human Nature
And another.......
Michael Jackson
His final #1 tune from 1995. He still had it goin' on!

Fun list! I was also surprised that there are a number of songs on here that I'm not familiar with. I have to say, though, my all-time favorite Michael Jackson song is "Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough." It's so '70's and so good. Also, "Black or White" reminds me of my childhood - watching the video on VH1, thinking it was so cool. yes!

Great list! My favorites from it are Man in the Mirror, Beat It, Billie Jean, and Thriller. However, my all-time favorite (which i can't believe you left out!! :)) is The Way You Make Me Feel! Such a fun song to dance to! I also like P.Y.T and Black or White.

I lOVE Michael - you have a great list - while some of your songs are when he was younger, I am more partial to the newer ones. Man In The Mirror would head my list as this song really describes him perfectly as a generous man, and of course Thriller was genius. One of my favorites is Give In To Me, with Slash playing the guitar; this song sounds lonely and sensuous at the same time and it gets to me every time I hear his voice; he sounds so intense. And of course Smooth Criminal is another of my favs. I also loved the remake of the Beatle's original tune Come Together - and the video is one of my favorites also! One thing I can say about Michael, and I am sure you will agree, is that no matter what song he was performing, the chorus, the instrumentals, NOTHING was ever the same throughout the song itself; he made sure his music never bored you with the same lyrics and musical arrangements when going from verse to chorus, and vice versa. He was pure genius.

I guess I would qualify as a frustrated writer. My work requires very little writing and so since 1999 I have been writing reviews on non-fiction books and anthology CD's on I never could … more
