Dylan's Apocalypse 1

  • Sep 1, 2010
Dylan's always had an apocalyptic, or even eschatological (good word, eh?)  imagination.  Here are five back alley and end of time ruminations.
1
Highway 61 Revisited
The American nightmare in five verses - everyone can be cowed, commanded, corrupted, or sold. The first verse is a minor masterpiece in its own right.
2
Shelter from the Storm
Our hero (whoever he is) comes in off the road, and what a long hard road it is.
3
Black Diamond Bay
A world ends, while our hero drinks a beer and watches the news in L.A. Dylan's been reading Conrad and collaborating with Jacques Levy.
4
A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall
A laundry list of end-time visions, and Dylan as biblical as he's ever been. Especially the version on the Live 1975 Bootleg - the Rolling Thunder Review document.
5
desolation row
Dylan has said Desolation Row is somewhere in Mexico, but then Dylan has said lot's of things. It's between Dylan's ears, and it's also in Seattle, New York, or any other city worthy of the name.
