Save for "Achtung Baby," the Nineties weren't too kind to Bono and the boys. "Zooropa" was too trippy for those accustomed to their Earth-grounded, ground-shaking, shaky-hearted anthems of the Eighties, and "Pop" was misdirected and self-indulgent. In this release from Irish rock superstars U2, Bono's voice is not what it once was, but U2's musical textures and Bono's songwriting skills have not been left behind.
