I'll be honest here and say that for the most part, I don't like the drone metal sub-genre. I find many of the niche's staple groups like Sunn O))) and Nadja extremely stuffy and bloodless. However, Bunkur, a drone/doom metal band from Tilburg, Holland, is a major exception.
"Bludgeon" contains only one song (a title track), and really pushes the boundaries of music by having a running length of 65 minutes. However, this is not the least bit boring because there's some good dynamic changes along the way and with the incorporation of elements from bands like Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, and Autopsy, makes for a terrifying musical trip that's as if you're witnessing the most brutal torture acts in a Medieval dungeon. This is perfect music to listen to when you're doing creative work about dark subject matter.
