A very good debut record by this fine band. It is quite different from most of their future releases as the emphasis here is on blues and jamming. The song-writing by John Fogerty is not at peak performance as there are only five originals out of eight tracks. However the three covers are performed quite well. Working Man is a real winner among the originals. The rest all have interesting moments but each are lacking something. Gloomy has some good soloing but has a limited song structure. The same can be said for Walk On The Water. Porterville has a fairly interesting tune to it but could possibly use some a little more in the lyric department. Get Down Woman starts off with a nice bluesy rhythm but just does not go anywhere after a while. None the less the performance by the band is good. Worthwhile for your record collection but get Cosmos Factory, Willy And The Poor Boys, and possibly Green River first.
