As others have already stated, Exile started out as a pop-rock outfit and hit in the U.S. with "Kiss You All Over." Folks who didn't tune their radios over to the country station after the late 70's though, missed out on some great country/AC hits. All of the biggest of those tunes are included on this album. Highlights include "Woke Up In Love," "She's A Miracle," and "Give Me One More Chance." This group entered country music at a time when mainstream country artists were blending AC and pop sounds to their own musical stylings. Exile had very solid harmonies and easily digestable tunes. They were one of the most radio-friendly acts of the early 80's in country music.
Similar bands include Restless Heart, Atlanta, the Desert Rose Band, the mid-80's version of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and later acts such as Little Texas. If you are a fan of any of these bands and have never heard Exile, I highly recommend this album to you. Fans of traditional or neo-traditional country may be turned off by the pop leanings of this album. Personally, I think it's a very good compilation.
