How can you possibly describe the hard rock circus of Ted Nugent to a world that literally thinks Lady Gaga's "meat dress" is the last word in carnivorous excess. Well, when I saw him back in the day supporting the just released Cat Scratch Fever - try imagining a guitar-wielding Tarzan swinging onto the stage wearing nothing but a loin cloth, fifty pounds of hair and a Tooth-asaurus grin about as wide as Madison Square Garden.
It was an entrance that only Cheetah or 14 y/o Cheeto-eaters could love - except that for all his Gonzo-survivalist, panty-baiting excess, Nugent literally rocked the Garden until it shook to its foundation and will always be one of my favorite rock memories.
So... what of Great Gonzos? Should you buy it? How's the remastering? Is it complete? All I can say is - does it really matter? At the concrete shattering decibels that "The Nuge" routinely cranks out, could you really tell the difference? All of Nugent's signature songs are here - just as you remember them - expansive and nicely packaged with all of the infantile double-entendres just where you left them.
In the jungle of Ted Nugent, it's survival of the loudest!
