Purely Marvelous.

  • Feb 25, 2005
I first became acquainted with They Might Be Giants when I had to edit one of their songs ("Whistling In the Dark") for a theatre sound project several years ago. I realized a few years ago that their music is the perfect type of music to be played on the radio shows I have hosted over the years. Their music falls closest into the "dementia" genre because it really doesn't fit anywhere else--it's true music. I was really excited when I heard they had a new album coming out that was produced around the ABCs. I wasn't disappointed. Even though it's marketed as a children's album, HERE COMES THE ABCS is an album that both children and adults will enjoy. Granted adults might find the whole ABC theme a bit drab. However, listened with an open mind and the cd becomes a melodic-wonder of merriment. Some of my favorite songs on the album include:

"Here Come the ABCs"

"Alphabet Nation"

"Flying V"

"Go for G!"

"Pictures of Pandas Painting"

"Who Put the Alphabet in Alphabetical Order"

"Rolling O"

"L M N O"

"C is for Conifers"

"D is for Drums"

A purely marvelous work of musical magic that is sure to entertain children and adults years to come.
