Campbell Takes Christmas Standards To New Heights

I received the original release of this album around fifteen years ago. This newer release contains all of the same songs and recordings. With that said, though, I must admit that Glen Campbell's "Home For The Holidays" is a treasure. Campbell's voice is as smooth as ever, and he sounds great on Christmas standards such as "The Christmas Song," "What Child Is This," and "Silent Night."

While the songs do not stray too far from their standard formula, the production, musical arrangements and Campbell's performance combine to make for great Christmas music. My personal favorite is "Little Drummer Boy," accented by bagpipes. Yes, I said bagpipes, and they work perfectly here.

Two medleys are also included on the album, and "Hark The Herald Angels Medley" includes one of my favorite Christmas songs, "O Come, O Come Emmanuel." Vince Gill sits in on the "Away In A Manger Medley."

I highly recommended this album. If you can find a copy of it, pick it up immediately.
