Woopak's SONGS of the Month (this time Korean Pop)

After my extended horror film run this past October, I figured that I should put something out just for fun. I have been really out of touch with my music, but being friends with a multi-racial group does have its benefits; I get to be exposed to some very different types of pop culture and film. As most folks know, I have developed a love for Asian cinema (well, I am Asian) so of course it would only be a matter of time before I begin checking out the music. Being a bit more familiar with Japanese music, I found that it is quite different from what we are used to in the U.S.
I know that most folks in America would form a disconnect with Asian music because of the language barrier. Well, Japanese bands and Korean pop groups usually mix in English in their songs for reasons unknown. I’d like to make this write up to show just how the Western world had influenced Korean pop music. They rely mostly on eye candy visuals with the usual stylish delivery and gimmicks. Not a bad thing, just a pure example of a culture adapting to become mainstream.
The pop groups I have selected are SNSD (Girls Generation- making a comeback), KARA and BROWN-EYED GIRLS. They maintain that Asian charm and sexiness as well as a great adaptation to Western pop music. Sorry I don’t have the lyrics, but they are fun.

SNSD- "Tell me Your Wish"

KARA- "Mister"

Brown-Eyed Girls

Nothing sexier or cuter than women who sing 'cute' songs, eh?

Wow, this is cool! Yeah, I've heard there really is a big market for pop music in South Korea but I'd never had any of it up until now. Good call. They are so cute!

I wanted to expand more on the write up, but my knowledge about them were all fed to me by a lady friend and I can't do it that way. My fave is the one who sings (with a great voice) by herself in SNSD and the one with the short hair in KARA. They are cute indeed! Figured I'd just have fun. he-heh.
