An album by Tina Turner
However, this Private Dancer record is oh loaded with synthesizer beats and many unatural sounds. Gosh just listen to I can't Stand The Rain with that squealing noise throughout. The covers of 1984 and Help just do not work too well with Tina's R & B stylings. The song structures are altered way too much. Whereas What's Love Got To Do With It has a couple of decent hooks around the chorus, the song is a bit too basic to enjoy on a constant basis. 1980's FM radio really force fed this mediocre tune down our throats.
There are a few good moments. Like the cover of Lets Stay Together as this tune is very appropriate for Tina's R & B style. Private Dancer offers some beautfiul piano touches and a more restrained Tina on the verses. Steel is a good rocker as well.
Overall, I do value Tina Turner's guts and determination to make it back in the music world. However, it merely is a decent recording rather than a reverred classic that pop radio would like to make you believe.
