Andrés Segovia (February 1893 - June 1987) is in top form in Segovia-
The Music of Albéniz and Granados
. 1)  The guitar solo album comes
with a considerable description of Segovia's life beginning with his
birth in Linares in Andalucia, Spain.

Segovia performs Granada in the album Segovia-The Music of Albéniz
and Granados.
Granada is one of Segovia's important guitar renditions
which captures the majesty of Albéniz's music from the "Suite Española #1".
Segovia  begins his rendition of Granada in a smooth and dignified style
characterized by a rich sound with distinct notes and considerable artistic expression.

Granada is performed on the classical guitar. Segovia plays the strings of the
guitar with a combination utilizing both the fingernails and fingertips. This unique
combination of finger movements clearly produces sharper sound and a better
defined staccato throughout his performance of Granada.

The album proceeds with a rendition of Tonadilla by Granados-Segovia.
The presentation is brisk with complex cords, multiple octaves and a rich sound.
Segovia performs Torre Bermeja by Albéniz. The presentation proceeds at a
quick pace with multiple octaves and a pensive mood in places. Segovia's guitar
playing fits his virtuoso level of achievement.

Segovia worked with Hermann Hauser Sr. to design the classical guitar. 2)
The classical guitar featured a finer quality wood and strings of nylon.
The shape of the instrument was changed to enhance the acoustics. This new
guitar could produce louder sounds than previous guitar designs.

Segovia aspired to bring guitar studies to every collegiate institution globally
and to pass on the instrument to posterity.  3)   On March 11, 1979, Andrés Segovia
performed at the White House.

He died from a heart attack at age 94 in Madrid. Despite his death, Segovia left behind
a continuing legacy which elevated the guitar to classical and concert  status.  4)
