I don't think Carey ever needed an "emancipation." Each album, she says she feels she's able to step out for the first time and be who she really wants to be as an artist and as a person. She said the same for "Rainbow," "Glitter," and "Charmbracelet." What I felt she did with this album was take a cue from Madonna and re-invent herself. She doesn't go totally into the R&B track as she did with "Rainbow" and joins forces with some interesting people. Jennifer Lopez claimed her album was a "rebirth," …
